For over 60 years, the Alpenrose Obertauern has been a place of lived hospitality. From a small family business to a modern hotel – each decade tells its own story full of passion, innovation, and warmth.
It all began with a humble general store. Two sisters dreamed of having more space for their ideas – laying the foundation for the Alpenrose Obertauern.
A new guesthouse with private room rentals and a small general store is being built at the current location. It’s a place where travelers feel welcome and where Hotel Alpenrose Obertauern will receive its first guests.
A grocery store is added – the Alpenrose Obertauern becomes a meeting point for locals and guests. The private rooms recede into the background, but the heart of the house continues to beat for hospitality.
Ulrike and Werner Meyer build the Alpenrose Obertauern to its current size with 13 apartments. More space for holidays, more space for memories.
Werner Meyer’s early death shook the family. Ulrike, daughter Doris, and son-in-law Christian stuck together, took responsibility, and continued to run the hotel with heart and dedication.
Conversion of the north-facing balconies: They will be integrated into the apartments’ living space, ensuring greater comfort.
The construction of the garage brings added convenience – guests at the Alpenrose Obertauern hotel enjoy more comfort.
A larger breakfast room is created, the culinary offerings are expanded – for a good start to the day at the Alpenrose.
The grocery store closes, and new space for guests is created: the Alpenshop, modern family rooms, and a modern ski room with lockers and direct ski access at the Alpenrose Obertauern hotel.
Despite the pandemic, all apartments are being completely renovated. We are looking ahead to ensure even more comfort and a welcoming atmosphere.
Son Florian joins the family business. With fresh energy, new ideas, and a feel for living tradition, the next generation is contributing to Hotel Alpenrose and continuing its success story with passion.

Ski Schools, Pre-Ski School & Babysitting in Obertauern

At Hotel Alpenrose Obertauern, not only adults feel at home – young guests also get their money’s worth. Around the Alpenrose, you’ll find a wide selection of ski schools as well as a special pre-ski school for 3–4-year-old children at the CSA ski school. Here, the little ones playfully learn how to handle skis safely – completely without pressure, but with lots of fun.
For parents who want to enjoy some time for themselves, a babysitting service is also available, which can be booked through the CSA Ski School. We are happy to inform you about all options when you book, so that your children are well looked after – and you can enjoy your holiday completely relaxed.
